Exercise Physiology
What is Exercise Physiology?
Exercise Physiology is the science of using tailored exercise programs to prevent injury, manage chronic conditions, and improve overall health, function, and wellbeing. Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) study at university for at least four years to use exercise as medicine, designing programs specifically for your needs and goals.

Neurological conditions (such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis)
Mental health and psychosocial conditions (such as stress, anxiety, depression, PTSD)

And many more!
How are Exercise Physiology sessions conducted?
Sessions are typically conducted one-on-one or in group exercise sessions that are tailored to your abilities and goals. All sessions are supervised by a qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologist. They may take place in a gym, hydrotherapy pool, or via telehealth for at-home programs.
How can Exercise Physiology benefit me?
Exercise Physiology can help you increase strength, mobility, and confidence, reduce pain, manage chronic conditions, recover from injury, and improve your quality of life. Programs are designed to support both physical and mental health.
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first exercise physiology session is a chance to understand where you’re at and what you’d like to work towards. The focus is on listening, assessing, and setting a clear plan that suits you.
How long does each session last?
All sessions are 30 minutes to ensure each session is focused, personalised, and safe, allowing your Exercise Physiologist to closely monitor your technique and progress. Shorter, structured sessions help maintain concentration, reduce fatigue, and optimise the effectiveness of every exercise. This approach ensures you receive high-quality, evidence-based care that is tailored to your goals and needs.
